‘Bring your own device’ -E-Safety Workshops

The two hour E-Safety workshops will be held once monthly at our premises in Urmston. For dates see Events page.

The workshop focus is on:

  • Increasing parental awareness of current online games / apps that are not suitable for children
  • Increasing parental awareness of the dangers that may lurk on online gaming and apps
  • Increasing parental awareness of social media and its effects on their child
  • How to talk to your child about the dangers of the internet.
  • How to actually use parental setting and downloadable software in order to protect your child
  • Bring your child’s device and we will assist in actually setting the parental controls and give practical, comprehensive advice

Cyber Bullying Workshop – What to do to protect your child

  • How to talk to your child about bullying, in particular cyber bullying
  • What to do if your child is experiencing cyber bullying

Helping your child with their homework

This one hour workshop is aimed at supporting you to support your child. Sometimes helping your child|(ren) with their homework can be daunting for parents; you want to help but are not sure how to. Our workshop covers:

  • Creating the right environment to do homework
  • Motivating a child to do their homework
  • Simple strategies that can be used to assist with homework
  • Helping your child become a more independent and resourceful learner
  • Useful websites and apps and how to use them

Supporting your child through their examinations

This one hour workshop is aimed at supporting your child on the lead up and during examinations. Nowadays children are exposed to much more pressure and stress during their school life than we were. This pressure is often difficult for children to comprehend or manage, causing significant negative impacts on their well being, both physically and mentally. Our workshop includes many of the strategies used within our own practices at Clear Steps Plus Education and will give you a valuable insight as to how we can help our children through this period. The workshop content covers:

  • Prevention is better than a cure – how to cultivate a healthy attitude towards examinations / tests from a young age
  • How to help your child manage revision
  • Spotting signs of stress in your child
  • Strategies to use to reduce your child’s feelings of pressure and stress on the lead up to and during examinations
  • What to do if your child isn’t coping
  • Useful websites and agencies
